And so it begins...
I've wanted to start writing online for a while now - not least cos I spend half my life reading other people's blogs - but I never really had anything much to say. Until now that is! Two days ago I handed in my notice on my comfortable, in-house design job. In four weeks time I will move to London with (at present) no house and no job and a whole new adventure will begin!
Some people might think I'm a bit crazy to be leaving my job in a recession with nothing new lined up - I know my parents will when I tell them - but I see it very much as an exercise in career advancement. Sure, I'll be poor for a while in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Sure, I might have to work more than one job for a bit. But I'm in no doubt that 12 months of placements will be a million times more beneficial to me than another 12 months in my easy, comfortable job.
Now I just have that small task of finding someone who wants me to work for them...
Funny, I've been considering the same thing! After I graduated last year I worked in an agency for a few months and now work in-house, both jobs have been back home where I live.
ReplyDeleteI feel like i just need to take the plunge and move to London to give it a proper go, my current job isn't really fulfilling me creatively. Like you said it's comfortable and easy.
So how's it going then, have you found some placements? Is it something you would recommend doing? I'm interested to know!
